Large oil spill near Perkiomen Trail parking area shuts down Main Street, Schwenksville Road Tuesday evening

Oil dry or sand is en route to the scene to clean up the spill of unknown origin.

A large oil spill of unknown origin has shut down Main Street and Schwenksville Road at the Perkiomen Trail Spring Mount parking area Tuesday evening in Lower Frederick Township.

According to Montgomery County emergency radio reports, the spill is flowing toward Schwenksville Road, causing multiple cars to slide on the roadway. 

Pennsylvania State Police has called for the shutdown of roadways until oil dry or sand can be brought to the scene. 

It was reported at 5:09 p.m. along the unit block of N. Main Street.
