A community food pantry serving the Perkiomen area has found a new home in Perkiomen Township.

Daily Bread Community Food Pantry announced this week that it has taken ownership of a 12,000-square-foot building at 16  Iron Bridge Drive.

The building was the operations center for Embarq Creative, which has moved to a new facility at 5 Iron Bridge Drive.

“Our hearts are full today as, after many years of searching, the Pantry has finally taken ownership of a … building that will become our new home, allowing us to better serve the community. This milestone helps realize Joel and Loretta (Stever)’s 26-year dream of securing a permanent space to continue the Daily Bread’s legacy,” wrote the Pantry on its Facebook page. “There are countless people to thank—volunteers, donors, and clients—who have supported us along this journey.”

Daily Bread plans to begin site work soon and looks to transfer to the new facility in early Summer 2025 from its 3938 Ridge Pike, Collegeville location.

According to its website, Daily Bread’s mission is to eliminate hunger in the Perkiomen area by providing residents in need with programs that provide food, promote the value of nutrition, increase self-sufficiency, and instill hope.

At present, the Pantry is facing a shortage of its shelves.

Current needs at Daily Bread include broth, canned meats, cream canned soups, meal sides (Hamburger Helper, noodle/rice kits), oatmeal, canned baked beans, canned peas, juice, stuffing, gravy, pancake mix, jelly, canned pasta, canned tomatoes and peanut butter.
