A two-vehicle crash on Ridge Pike in Upper Providence Township early Tuesday morning sent a man and a woman to area trauma centers and closed the road for seven hours.
Upper Providence Township Police said the accident took place at 12:47 a.m. at 1859 Ridge Pike and involved two SUVS – a Nissan and a Chevrolet.
Both drivers, who are in their 40s, suffered serious injuries and their conditions are not immediately available Tuesday.
Police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Western Montgomery County Regional Crash Unit, and no further details are available at this time. The crash occurred near the intersection with Township Line Road.
As a result of the crash, Ridge Pike was closed for nearly seven hours between Township Line Road and the entrance to the Court at Upper Providence shopping center while investigators conducted their work at the scene. The roadway reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
Upper Providence Township Fire Department and Fire Police, Collegeville Fire Department and Fire Police, Royersford Fire Police, Freedom Valley Ambulance, Limerick Police Department and Fire Police, and Friendship HLH Ambulance of Royersford assisted at the scene.
