A 60-year-old rapist of two young teenage girls 14 years ago is headed to state prison for up to 47 years, following a sentencing Tuesday in Bucks County Common Pleas court.
Matias J. Martinez Morales, formerly of Quakertown, was convicted by a Bucks County jury in January on a felony charge each of rape by force, rape of a child, indecent assault by forcible consumption, and terroristic threats, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. Testimony took three days before the verdict was handed down by the jury.
"We are extremely satisfied with the jury’s verdict, and grateful that the brave young victims in this case were able to see justice done,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Matt Lannetti in February. "Without their courage and the hard work of the assigned detective, we would not have been able to achieve this result.”
Martinez Morales was also convicted on two counts each of unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault on a person under 13 years of age, and corruption of minors, according to the DA.
In addition to the 18 ½ to 47 years in prison sentencing, Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley also imposed five years’ probation and ordered Martinez Morales to have no contact with the victims, authorities said.
Martinez Morales must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, but it was determined he did not meet criteria to be listed as a sexually violent predator, per authorities.
This investigation by the Quakertown Borough Police Department began in November 2022, authorities said, when Quakertown Borough Police Detective Ryan Naugle received a child welfare report indicating that a 16-year-old female was raped by an adult male when she was four.
During a forensic interview conducted by the Child Advocacy Center, the victim reported that Martinez Morales raped her several times and threatened to kill her and her family if she told anyone.
A second victim was interviewed by the Child Advocacy Center and reported that she was sexually assaulted multiple times by Martinez Morales when she was six years old.
This case was investigated by Quakertown Borough Police Detective Ryan Naugle and was prosecuted by Lannetti, Chief of Child Abuse Prosecution.
