A Methacton senior went home last weekend a triple champion at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University.

According to The Mercury, Summer Mellow clinched third place in the 100 meters, second place in the long jump, and eighth place in the 200 meters.

Last year, Mellow, who will head to William & Mary University for college, got third place in the long jump. She recently became a three-time Pioneer Athletic Conference champion in the 100 meters as well, after failing to move past the trials last year.

Competing alongside Mellow were nine other medalists from the PAC conference, including Perkiomen Valley’s Ian Johnson, who got fifth place in the 3,200 meters. Perkiomen Valley student Jane Fisher also competed at States in the high jump.

“It feels good because now I’m like, okay, you can do this. You just needed some work in order to get there. It feels nice to have done all of this and to be on the podium at all, actually. It feels really good,” Mellow told The Mercury.
