Better believe bunts can win a championship.
Just ask the Perkiomen Valley Vikings softball champs, who clinched the Pioneer Athletic Conference win Thursday over Boyertown, according to The Mercury.
It is the fourth PAC title for Perk Valley softball; the last win was in 2017.
For four straight batters, the Vikings repeated the method of bunt and score, bunt and score in the fourth inning, per the report. Perk Valley would eventually rack up three more runs for a final 7-1 victory over the Bears, thanks to efforts of junior pitcher Maci Strechay’s winning three-hitter and Sammy Petersen’s two-run homer in the fifth inning, per the article.
Boyertown’s southpaw Ella Hurter had an impressive showing on the mound, according to The Mercury, striking out seven players by the first three innings and allowing one hit. After that, the 15-6 overall Bears were inundated with run after run by the 19-3 overall Vikings.
