The Ridge Pike deli/bakery/ice cream shop/pizzeria is famous for its famed clientele, whose pictures adorn its walls.
The best chicken cutlets in the area may not exactly be in South Philly, but rather in the kitchen of Collegeville Italian Bakery Pizzeria Napoletana on Ridge Pike in Lower Providence.
Bakery co-owner Steve Carcarey told The Philadelphia Inquirer recently that their cutlets have even received the stamp of approval from local renowned Chef Mark Vetri, brother of former District Attorney and current Common Pleas Judge Risa Vetri Ferman.
Thus, the deli/pizzeria/bakery/ice cream shop has evolved its chicken cutlet into the Bangin’ Cutlet Sandwich, at $11 for a 7-inch sandwich or $13.50 for a foot-long sandwich, according to the report. The Bangin’ Cutlet features two hand-pounded, breaded cutlets in a housemade long roll, burrata, blush sauce and Mike’s Hot Honey sauce.
The sandwich, per the report, was added to Collegeville Italian Bakery Pizzeria Napoletana last year and they have sold more than 60,000 Bangin’ Cutlet Sandwiches.
The Lower Providence business’s fare has brought out many celebrities to their location – Joel Embiid, Rhys Hoskins, and Carson Wentz, to name a few.
“You can get a cheesesteak anywhere, you can get hoagie anywhere,” Carcarey told The Inquirer. “We’ll put that cutlet up against any sandwich in Philadelphia.”
The mouth-watering delicacies does not stop at the Bangin’ Cutlet. The Collegeville connoisseurs behind the Italian fare have premiered The MVP cutlet sandwich on its menu, in all its Italian flag-colored glory. According to the report, the MVP features cutlets, marinara, vodka sauce, and pesto.
