A Philadelphia man has been charged with accidents involving damage to unattended property for destroying a $295 gate arm at a Worcester Township gated community as he tried to sneak in behind another car, police allege, before fleeing the area.

Pennsylvania State Police said a hit-and-run was reported at 3:29 p.m. May 29 on Brindle Court in Stony Creek Farms, but it had actually occurred more than a week prior, on May 21 at 2:41 p.m.

Police allege Eduardo Pereira, 41, was driving a 1996 Toyota into the entrance by following behind another vehicle that was going through the gate, but the arm came down.

Pereira, police said, hit and damaged the gate arm with his car, and then proceeded into the neighborhood. He left the property at 2:45 p.m., per the complaint.
