Perk Valley grad helps lead University of Tampa women's lacrosse to national championship

A Perkiomen Valley High School graduate is now a champion women’s lacrosse player, as she helped lead her team to its first NCAA Division II national championship last month, reports Philly Lacrosse.

University of Tampa senior midfielder Riley McGettigan were the key starters in last month’s battle against No. 1-ranked Adelphi, per the report, that ended in a 13-8 win.

The Tampa Spartans were No. 2 ranked at a 19-3 record versus Adelphi’s 19-4.

Per Philly Lacrosse, McGettigan racked up a goal, an assist and a groundball in the championship game, and now has a season record of eight goals, 11 assists, 15 draw controls, and 12 groundballs.

McGettigan was joined on the championship team by Pennsylvanian teammates Katie DeShan, of Radnor, and Isabel McGarvey, of Haverford.
