With the way things are looking in Perkiomen Valley School District, taxpayers who live in properties assessed around $180,000 can expect to shell out about $170 more for the 2024-25 fiscal school year for a budget with a $2 million deficit, according to The Pottstown Mercury.
Directors are proposing a 2.6% tax hike, from 36.38 mills to 37.32 mills, per the report.
The $132 million final budget is set to be approved and adopted by the school board on Monday. Expenses are $2 million higher than projected revenues of $129.275 million, according to the budget documents.
The plan, per the article, is to tap into $1.55 million in surplus fund balance monies and increase taxes to gain the necessary revenue to close the gap.
Homeowners whose primary residence is in Perkiomen Valley School District can apply for the Homestead and Farmstead Exemption program, where the maximum rebate is $336 for 2024-25, per The Mercury.
