A 22-year-old Limerick motorcyclist remains in critical condition under intensive care at a nearby trauma center after he suffered severe injuries in a collision with a minivan at Black Rock and Olympic roads Monday afternoon, which closed the roadway for more than six hours as authorities completed an investigation, Upper Providence Township Police announced Tuesday afternoon.
The man’s identity is currently being withheld, police said.
On Monday at 2:20 p.m., emergency responders arrived on scene of a serious crash at Black Rock Road, east of Olympic Road, involving a motorcycle and a minivan, police said.
EMTs and medics arrived quickly and provided immediate medical attention before taking the injured to a nearby trauma center, police said.
The driver of the minivan suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical services, police said.
Police did not release the name of the driver of the minivan, but the driver is fully cooperating with police as the investigation continues, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling east on Black Rock Road and lost control on the curve at Olympic Road, police said.
The motorcycle entered the westbound lane of Black Rock Road and hit the minivan head-on.
Police said the Western Montgomery County Regional Crash Team responded to the scene to investigate the crash.
Upper Providence Township Police were assisted at the scene by Lower Providence Township Police, Phoenixville Borough Police, Upper Providence Township Fire Department, Friendship Ambulance, and Lower Providence Ambulance.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. No charges have been filed in the crash at this time.
