Upper Providence Township Police Chief U. Mark Freeman said a motorcyclist from Limerick Township was taken by medics in extremely critical condition following an accident with a minivan Monday evening on Black Rock Road, which closed the roadway from Green Tree Road to Olympic Road for several hours.

As of 6 p.m., investigators were still on scene, Freeman said. The chief confirmed the motorcycle driver was a male in his 20s. He did not release a name Monday night.

Freeman said a preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle collided with the minivan at the intersection. The driver of the minivan, an older male, was uninjured, Freeman said.

The motorcycle and minivan sustained severe damage in the crash.

Upper Providence Police were assisted at the scene by Friendship Ambulance and Black Rock Volunteer Fire Co. No. 99, Freeman said.
