A Shoemakersville man is facing a charge of felony aggravated assault by Lower Providence Township Police for allegedly attacking a nurse at Eagleville Hospital.
Eugene Thomas Schools, 29, of the 300 block of Main Street, police allege, assaulted a mental health technician at the hospital on July 15 at 10 p.m.
Schools remains confined at Montgomery County jail since July 16 on 10% of $5,000 cash bail, per court records.
Police were called to the hospital at 100 Eagleville Road for a report of an assault on a hospital worker. Upon arrival, police were told that Schools struck the victim repeatedly with the door that leads into his room in the unit of the hospital, police said.
Lower Providence Police had already visited the hospital earlier in the evening for reports of Schools flipping tables and throwing chairs, according to the complaint.
After police left from the first visit, Schools returned to his room, where he and a roommate were placed on constant watch due to safety reasons or concerns, police said.
The victim was assigned to watch Schools, and she stopped him from attempting to close his door, which would have prevented her from monitoring him as required, per the complaint. Schools was told that closing the door would prevent the victim from doing her job and the door needed to remain open, police said.
Schools yelled “Get the f--- out of my room” and slammed the door, police allege, striking the victim across the front of her body. Schools then pulled the door all the way open and slammed the door on the victim again, striking the front of her body, police said. He pulled the door back a third time, at which time, police said, the victim grabbed the door to prevent Schools from slamming it on her.
The victim screamed for help from other co-workers on the unit and stepped away from the room, police said.
Police said the victim believed Schools struck her repeatedly with the intention of harming her, as he is larger and stronger and aggressive. The victim suffered back pain and redness on the right side of her neck, police said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 30 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
