A Schwenksville man faces felony strangulation, misdemeanor simple assault and harassment charges after Pennsylvania State Police accused him of choking a woman while she slept at his family’s home in Lower Frederick Township last month.
Brian Thomas Landon, 41, of the 1100 block of Gravel Pike, is free on 10% of $5,000 cash bail, posted July 5, per court records. Landon had been in Montgomery County jail since June 19, when he was arraigned on the charges by Magisterial District Judge Thomas P. Murt.
According to state police, the victim came to state police barracks to report a strangulation incident on June 17 at 10:10 p.m. at Landon’s home. The victim told police she was kicked out of her Carbon County home and was staying at the house on June 15, as Landons were family friends and the parents were vacationing in Australia, police said.
The victim was asleep in a bedroom at 11 p.m. with her phone underneath her, police allege, when she woke up to Landon choking her and pushing her phone in her face with his other hand. Police said she could not breathe from Landon squeezing her throat, and was screaming at her about text messages.
The victim was able to break free, but Landon, police said, continued to follow her around the house, yelling and spitting on her, pushing her into the wall, and grabbing her arms and shaking her. Police allege Landon choked the victim again with both hands.
The victim asked Landon to take her to a friend’s house, and while driving there, police allege he continued to assault the victim by pushing her head against the passenger door window and striking her several times with a closed fist.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 23 at 10:45 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Maurice H. Saylor. He is represented by Norristown attorney Dana Greenspan.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
