The Women’s Center of Montgomery County, founded in 1976, celebrated the vital volunteers that serve the community, fighting domestic violence, on Sunday, June 23, at the William Penn Inn.

Special guest, state Sen. Art Haywood, spoke to the crowd and focused on the dignity that volunteers provide clients, and the dignity that all humans deserve. State Rep. Mary Jo Daly also spoke about the importance of the work that volunteers and staff do every day to help those in need. Also attending were Montgomery County Clerk of Courts Lori Schreiber, Coroner Dr. Janine Darby, and Register of Wills Tina Lawson.

The Women’s Center of Montgomery County, a comprehensive domestic violence agency, is a volunteer-driven community organization with a primary focus on freedom from domestic violence and other forms of abuse. Programs, policies and procedures reflect a strong commitment to empowering women, men, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

With seven locations in Montgomery County, a Protection from Abuse Office in the Montgomery County Courthouse, and satellite offices in local hospitals, the center works to make the worst day of someone’s life safer – providing empathy and comfort, while creating a safety plan that guides a survivor to a better tomorrow.

Comprehensive support of domestic violence victims includes a 24/7 Toll-Free Hotline 1-800-773-2424, access to interpreters, assistance filing for Protection from Abuse Orders (PFAs), court Accompaniment: PFA Court, District Court, Court of Common Pleas, legal advocacy and options counseling, Medical Advocacy at local hospitals, individual peer counseling, emergency shelter/relocation/housing, prevention education and community awareness programs, support groups, and safe dating teen text line (text “chat” to 833-641-0110.)

WCMC served close to 4,000 individuals last year, 569 of these individuals were men. For more information, visit the website or contact the Colmar Office at 610-996-0723
