A pickup truck driver was charged with following too closely in traffic after rear-ending a dump truck in Upper Salford Township last week.

Pennsylvania State Police did not release the name of the charged in their public report.

Police said the crash occurred July 3 at 3:46 p.m. on the 400 block of Old Skippack Road.

The striking vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-150XLT, was driving westbound behind a 2020 Mack dump truck on Old Skippack Road. Police said the Mack truck stopped in the lane due to an idle fire truck and personnel in the eastbound lane, which was removing debris from the roadway.

The driver of the Ford attempted to stop, but was unsuccessful and rear-ended the Mack, per authorities. The Ford came to a rest partially off the roadway, while the dump truck stopped at a farm about 150 feet west of the crash site, police said.

The Ford sustained moderate, but functional, damage to its front end. The Mack truck sustained minor damage to its rear passenger side mud flap, police said.

There were no injuries. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
