Janin Lynn McGlone, of Plymouth Meeting, allegedly had wire cutters and a security magnetic tool in her possession.
A Plymouth Meeting woman is accused of stealing more than $2,300 in clothing from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Upper Providence Township.
Janin Lynn McGlone, 42, of the 1200 block of Germantown Pike, was charged Dec. 22 by Upper Providence Police with felony charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property, and five misdemeanor charges of possessing an instrument of crime, according to court documents.
On Dec. 22, at 2:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the store at 400 Front Street for a theft in progress, police said, involving a woman concealing merchandise into bags.
Upon arrival, police met outside the store with the manager, who told them the woman, identified as McGlone, took lots of merchandise into the dressing room, per the affidavit. McGlone then came out of the dressing room with merchandise shoved into bags that she brought with her, police said.
After McGlone left the dressing room, employees found a large amount of security tags had been removed and left behind, police said.
Employees continued to follow McGlone while she was in the store, per the complaint. At 2:44 p.m., McGlone exited the store and was stopped by police.
She was allegedly in possession of miscellaneous clothing items from the store concealed in bags and a large Kohl’s reusable bag, totaling $2,310.47.
Additionally, McGlone allegedly had two pairs of wire cutters and a magnetic security tag remover.
McGlone had two prior convictions for retail theft and related offenses, police said.
