Santa and his reindeer came and went, and now it is time to celebrate the New Year. This Week Now presents events from Monday, Dec. 30 through Sunday, Jan. 5 in and around the Philadelphia suburbs. 


New Year’s Eve Party at The Halligan Bar

Ring in the New Year with The Halligan Bar at North Penn Social Club, 141 S. Main St., North Wales, for a night of music, dancing, and celebration. The party goes from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. Cover charge is $10 and includes a champagne toast at midnight. Food will be available for purchase from Little’s Kitchen.

 

Bounce into the New Year

BounceU’s Annual Noon Years Eve Bounce event at its 130 W. Main St., Collegeville (Trappe) location is Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required at $25 per child. No walk-ins permitted. No Groupons, LocalFlavor or other coupons accepted. The countdown to noon event features bouncing, a balloon drop, a special New Year’s Party favor and a sweet treat. Admission is non-refundable and space is limited. Parents and children must wear socks in the Bounce Areas.

Lights & Latkes Chanukah Lunch 

Chabad Lubavitch of Doylestown, 300 E. Swamp Road, Doylestown, holds a Lights & Latkes Chanukah lunch featuring a live musical presentation on a recovered Holocaust violin on Thursday at 12:30 p.m., sponsored by Customers Bank. Learn the story of the return of the prized violin of Bram Rodrigous, who was killed in the Holocaust.  Before Rodrigous fled Nazi-occupied Amsterdam, he entrusted his prized possession to his friend. The event is presented by Rodrigous’s nephew David Groen, an author and lecturer. The lunch is free and donations are appreciated.  


New Year’s Eve Balloon Drop

New Year’s isn’t just for the champagne poppers. Even the youngest of celebrants can enjoy ringing in 2025 with Romp n’ Roll’s New Year’s Balloon Drop. Slated for Tuesday at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30 a.m., the gym will include a playtime, adult-led activities, and a balloon drop and bubble dance following the countdown. Pre-registration is required, and can be done online here. Cost is $35 per member, and $40 per nonmember. You can select your time during registration. Each session will last 45 minutes. Year of the Wood Snake

As part of the Sushi Hatsu’s Holiday Omakase series, the Ambler restaurant will host a Year of the Wood event on Monday, Dec. 30 complete with premium Japanese sake and sparking wine. The cost is $250 per guest, and includes all food, beverages, and gratuity. Reservations for the special dinner can be made online here or by calling 267-705-2485. Various seating times are available. Sushi Hatsu is located at 51 E. Butler Ave., in Ambler.


Golden Girls Murder Mystery Dinner

The William Penn Inn will host a murder mystery dinner and show on Friday, with doors opening (and a cash bar) at 6 p.m. and show starting at 7 p.m. The show is completely interactive, and not on a stage. The cost of $80 includes a Caesar salad, entre course with Tangerine-Grilled Salmon teamed with Chicken Francoise, and a dessert of cheesecake. Tickets are required, and can be purchased online here. The William Penn Inn is located at 1017 DeKalb Pike in Gwynedd.


Brandywine Museum of Art with the Brandwine Railroad and Wyeth Miniatures exhibition

The Brandywine Museum of Art, 1 Hoffmans Mill Rd, Chadds Ford, celebrates the season with the return of the Brandywine Railroad holiday train display, plus a new exhibition that will highlight the miniature worlds created and loved by the Wyeth family of artists—including two additional model train displays that will delight visitors of all ages. Both exhibitions are on view daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Sunday, Jan. 5.

 

New Years Eve at Springfield Country Club

Ring in the New Year with a night of dinner, dancing, a premium open bar, and a champagne toast in Springfield Country Club's Grand Ballroom from 8 p.m. Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1, 2025. Tickets are $120 per person and includes dinner buffet from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., dancing in the Grand Ballroom, a premium open bar, DJ entertainment by Schaffer Sound Productions, party favors and a midnight champagne toast. Guests will be able to watch the ball drop in Times Square on multiple large screens.

 

Ben Arnold New Year's Eve with Special Guests

Ben Arnold is reintroducing himself. A songwriter, musician, performer and producer, he remains a longtime fixture on the Philadelphia musical landscape. He has toured regularly throughout the country as well as Europe for the better part of the last 25 years.

Arnold will perform Tuesday, Dec 31 at 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Kelly Center, 4 East Eagle Road, Havertown. Doors at 7 p.m. Adults $40 at door. BYOB is welcome for an additional $5 donation per drinker. Must be 21 to consume alcohol. Disposable cups provided.
