All charges were held for Montgomery County Common Pleas Court against a Spring City man accused of viciously beating a man in the middle of the roadway in Lower Providence Township in September.
James J Hill III, 50, of 100 block of Keen Road, waived an aggravated assault charge and misdemeanor charges of simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct, and summary charges of harassment and failure to stop at a stop sign at a preliminary hearing last week.
On Sept. 15, at 9:29 p.m., police were dispatched to a home on the 3000 block of Highley Road, Lower Providence, for a report of a man, identified as Hill, accusing another man of hitting his children and another woman, police said.
It was determined the incident was a verbal dispute and the victim left the house prior to police arrival, police said.
While speaking with Hill during the incident, police said he threatened to beat a woman’s husband, saying the man was “finished” and he “didn’t care what the cops or courts do.”
Police said Hill was visibly upset and aggressive, and eventually left the scene in his car.
At 10:12 p.m., police were dispatched to Pinetown and Egypt roads regarding an assault victim, per the complaint. Upon arrival, police allegedly found Hill and the man he threatened earlier in the night.
Hill admitted to hitting the victim in the face, who was lying in the middle of the roadway and bleeding from the head, authorities allege.
Lower Providence Emergency Medical Services transported the victim from the scene to Paoli Hospital for trauma.
Hill is free on 10% of $10,000 cash bail, per court records. Formal arraignment in county court is set for Jan. 29.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
