Man accused of swiping more than $3,000 in baseball cards at memorabilia show, police say

 A Maryland man has been charged with felony counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing more than $3,000 in miscellaneous baseball cards from a show at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.

Matthew Adrian Brockway, 40, of the 600 block of Twin Brook Lane, Joppa, MD, allegedly took the cards during a Philadelphia Sportscard and Memorabilia Show at the Greater Philadelpjhia Expo Center in Oaks, Upper Providence Township on Dec. 14.

Police said officers were called to the expo center at 1:01 p.m., as an Upper Providence officer working extra duty detail at the show detained Brockway for suspicion of theft.

Police said Brockway swiped baseball cards from the “Somewhere in Time Sports Collectibles” booth, but was detained at the booth until police arrived. The cards were valued at $3,365, police said.

Brockway allegedly had stolen cards in his possession and admitted stealing them, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
