The controllers were sold online and in store at Target, Walmart and Cracker Barrel.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled 44,600 Mr. Christmas brand decorative tree light controllers due to an overheating issue that can spark a fire.
USCPS has received 10 overheating reports and one fire report due to the controllers.
According to the recall, the wireless receiver in the device can overheat. Inside the controller are two parts – a lever/switch that can be pulled to turn on or off holiday lights, and a white receiver that plugs into an outlet, to which lights are plugged into.
The controllers were sold at Walmart, Target, and Cracker Barrel stores and online between July and November 2024 for between $25 and $40.

The controllers sold at Walmart and Cracker Barrel display the words "Christmas Light Controller” and are shaped like a green, red and white peppermint candy with a candy cane on/off lever.
The controllers sold at Target were sold under the Wondershop brand and are shaped like a square on/off switch box with green, red and white balls, and display the words "Tree Lighting Switch".
The white wireless receptacle that is plugged into an outlet contains the words "Mr. Christmas" and one of these three model numbers printed on the white receptacle: 39611, 39612 or 39630.
Consumers should immediately stop using this product and return it to their place of purchase to receive a full refund.
