A Schwenksville man initially charged with felony fleeing police, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, and 69 summary offenses by Pennsylvania State Police for allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop and leading police on a pursuit had the most serious charges held over for county court in January.
Jack Galbavy, 20, had 67 of the 69 summary offenses against him withdrawn at a November preliminary hearing, according to court records. He still faces summary charges of driving without lights to avoid identification or arrest and reckless driving, per court records.
Police released details of the incident on Monday. On Aug. 30, at 11:58 p.m., troopers attempted a traffic stop on Main Street/Route 29, in Red Hill Borough, police said. Galbay failed to yield and fled southbound on Route 29, authorities allege.
The pursuit was stopped in Marlborough Township on Gravel Pike near Knight Road after troopers were able to positively identify the car’s registration and the owner, police said.
Galbavy is free on $50,000 unsecured bail, according to court records.
At the hearing last month, prosecutors withdrew summary charges of no rear lights, careless driving, no headlights, following too closely, driving on the sidewalk, and operating a vehicle with unsafe equipment, seven counts each of speeding, turning without signaling, failure to keep right, and driving the wrong way, 20 counts of disregarding a traffic lane, three counts of running a red light, and numerous failure to obey traffic control devices, per court records.
Galbavy has an active case at the Magisterial District Court level stemming from another arrest by Pennsylvania State Police, this time on Dec. 3 in Upper Frederick Township on misdemeanor DUI charges, according to court records.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
