Pennsylvania State Police said a distracted driver was cited for the cause of an accident on the Northeast Extension in Worcester Township on Monday afternoon.

Police said a 2000 Peterbilt 379 tractor trailer, driven by a 59-year-old East Berlin, PA man, was in the southbound right lane of the Pennsylvania Turnpike I-476 at mile marker 27.4. Police were not clear on whether the truck was a cab or pulling a trailer.

Police said a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by a 63-year-old man from Media, PA, with two passengers, was behind the Peterbilt. The driver of the Ram looked down for a moment, and hit the rear of the Peterbilt truck, police said.

Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder. The accident was reported at 3:08 p.m.

No injuries were reported. The driver of the Ram was cited for following too closely, police said.

All individuals were wearing seatbelts. Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Co. responded to the scene, police said.
