Moms can be hard to please.
As of Monday afternoon, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is top-three in odds to win this year's NFL MVP award (behind only Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley). Jackson is second in the league in passing yards this season, has 29 touchdown passes to just three interceptions, and leads all quarterbacks with 678 rushing yards.
But in a video posted to twitter by ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley, Jackson says his mom was unhappy with his performance:
Lamar Jackson said his mother cussed him out after the game for not running more and not hitting the running lanes pic.twitter.com/2eYl7w2ftG
"She cussed me out . . . She said [there were] lanes I should've took and ran. But you know, I'm just trying to let guys develop routes. We had development routes and I was just trying to go through my progressions. But yeah, she's right."
Jackson did carry the ball eight times for 79 yards, but 39 of those yards came with the game out of reach and one minute remaining.
With all due respect to Ms. Jackson, however, the Eagles did a fantastic job staying disciplined while pressuring the Ravens' QB. There probably weren't as many open lanes as Jackson is used to seeing. And with the way the Birds' secondary blanketed Baltimore's receivers, it's unclear whether any quarterback could have led the Ravens to victory.
Baltimore has a bye this Sunday, then plays the hapless Giants in New York on December 15. Something tells us Jackson's mom will be much happier after that game.
