A Lower Providence man is headed to county jail for up to 23 months for strangling a woman two years ago.
Aaron Michael Stead, 51, of the 100 block of South Trooper Road, was given an 11½ to 23 month jail sentence by Montgomery County Common Pleas Jude Thomas P. Rogers following a guilty plea agreement to felony strangulation, per court documents.
Per The Mercury, Stead was investigated starting May 28, 2022 when police responded to the Eaglestream Apartments for a 911 call. During the call, police said, a woman could be heard saying “No” during a physical altercation.
Upon arrival, police found a woman upset with visible red marks to her chest and cuts on her hands, per the article.
Police said Stead grabbed the woman’s neck to take her phone away, and ended up strangling her with both hands. Once the victim was able to get away, she called 911, but was pushed to the floor by Stead, police said.
Then, police said he strangled her again on the floor and hit her head on the floor during the assault. Stead then left the residence before police arrival.
