McAllister’s Brewing Company in Upper Gwynedd has had its last call.
Sunday was the last day of operations for the brewery in the North Penn area; it has moved its operations and business to its new Carriage House location in East Greenville at 745 Gravel Pike.
The 18th-century rustic farmhouse was sold to Mike and Kate McAllister in November 2023 by Bob and Donna Shultheis, who retired after 22 years in business.
Owner Kate McAllister told North Penn Now that the decision to close the Upper Gwynedd location was made last week.
“The long term plan was to move operations to the restaurant and consolidate operations,” she said. “There were multiple factors involved with our decision to close our doors, but mainly the consolidation of operations under one roof.”
McAllister said she rented the Upper Gwynedd location and is unsure what will become of it.
“We will be utilizing a fair amount of our assets at the new location. We are in the midst of sourcing new equipment as well,” she said. “Some things, such as the hand-built bar, booths, and tables, and other front-of-the-house equipment will become available in time.”
She said McAllister’s Brewing will sell some brewing equipment, which will become available at a later time as well.
The Carriage House location provides McAllister with a full kitchen, plus an additional expanded kitchen that allows service to an expansive Biergarten (beer garden).
“The venue,” McAllister said, “is much larger than the taproom and we are able to host bigger events and offer three distinct private areas for events or parties.”
She said it is important for clientele to choose their own experience, be it from the traditional main dining room, or the newly renovated Pub with a sit-down bar and TVs for sports, or the quaint Courtyard, or even the Biergarten.
“We will be bringing our Sudz Capacitor tap system to the Carriage House. This is something that owner and head brewer Mike McAllister created that blends customized flavor and beer to create non-lactose dessert-style beers,” she said.
The send-off on Sunday was “overwhelming,” McAllister said, with many familiar faces.
“We are hoping our North Wales customers will come and give The Carriage House a try. It’s an easy and scenic drive from North Wales,” she said. “The beautiful Green Lane Park is on the way and a perfect spot for a hike to work up an appetite.”
McAllister was grateful for the North Wales and Lansdale areas for their support over the years.
“While we will miss pouring beer at that location,” she said, “we are excited to see what this new chapter will bring.”
The Carriage House is at 745 Gravel Pike (Route 29) in East Greenville. Call for reservations at 215-679-7700. It is closed Monday and Tuesday, and open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
