In a deal expected to generate more than $100 million in annual revenue, Whitetail Disposal, and its 18 municipal contracts in eastern Pennsylvania, was acquired by Casella Waste Systems on Aug. 1, a Vermont-based company who entered the waste management industry in 1975, according to a letter sent to customers by Casella and Whitetail.
Casella also acquired New Jersey-based LMR Disposal in the deal, which became effective July 1, per reports.
Whitetail, founded in 2008, has more than 350 employees, per WasteDive.com, and serves residential, commercial and roll-off customers.
In a letter sent to customers this week, Whitetail Disposal co-founder Mike Schmidt and Casella Regional Vice President Kyle Larkin stated that Whitetail’s goal for 20 years has been to “provide customers with exceptional service at a great value.”
“After much consideration, we decided to sell our business and worked hard to find the right partner that we believe aligns with our values and can be trusted to carry Whitetail into the future,” stated the letter. “Casella was our choice because they place a high value on customer service along with maintaining a local, community-based service.”
Per WasteDive, Casella acquired numerous assets from GFL Environmental, which opened the door for deals with Whitetail and LMR Disposal.
Casella also operates a rail-served McKean Landfill in Pa.
According to WasteDive, Whitetail has a fleet of 250 trash trucks.
Whitetail services numerous communities in the North Penn and Perk Valley areas.
According to the letter, very little will change, as far as service.
“You will still see the same drivers who know your routes and your individual needs as we transition to Casella,” stated the letter.
