If you have been putting off spring cleaning so long that, I hate to remind you, it is nearly fall, there is a local fundraiser that might motivate you to get the ball rolling. The Methacton Girls’ Soccer Team will be hosting a collection of used goods, and the best news is, you still have time to prepare.
The collection of all donations will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to noon at the high school.
“Clean out your houses,” said a team parent, Susan Washburn. “Please help our team raise funds by cleaning out attics, basements, garages, and closets.”
The materials collected will be weighed and donated to those in need. The following items can be donated:
All donations should be placed in tied kitchen-size garbage bags for drop-off. Donations can also be taken to a player on the team ahead of the Sept. 28 event.
Washburn, whose daughter, Maddy, is a senior on the team. She is a team captain and midfielder for the Methacton High School team. Washburn says the collection is a great time to clear out your old, unwanted items, reduce clutter, all while also helping a local sports team.
Materials are weighed by a collection organization, and based on the weight of the items collected, the team earns funds.
“Donations will go directly to the team for funding of practice shirts, banquet expenses, and senior night,” said Washburn. “Clean out your closets. The more our collection weights, the more money we raise!”
The Methacton Girls’ High School Soccer Team kicks off the 2024 fall season with a scrimmage against Lower Merion High School on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. The game will be held at the auxiliary turf field at Methacton High School. For the full season schedule, visit the team’s page here.
