Driver trapped, unconscious in three-car turnpike pileup involving trash truck Wednesday morning

Southbound Interstate 476 near the DeKalb Pike access ramp in Worcester Township is reduced to one lane Wednesday morning following a three-vehicle pile-up involving a JP Mascaro trash truck, in which at least two people were taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to reports from the scene, a white utility pickup truck rear-ended the trash truck, and then a white SUV rear-ended the pickup truck near Mile Marker 26.6 at 10:14 a.m.

At least one male was reported trapped and unconscious and had to be extricated from his vehicle, per reports.

Towamencin Township Police, Upper Gwynedd Police, Towamencin Vol. Fire Co., Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, Skippack Emergency Medical Services, and Freedom Valley Medical Rescue in Harleysville responded to the scene. 

The victims' injuries and statuses are unknown as of 11 a.m. Wednesday.
