On Saturday, August 3, Pennsylvania State Senator Maria Collett and Pennsylvania House Representative Steve Malagari, both representatives representing Montgomery County, hosted their first Family Fest at the Souderton Community Park.
“I was excited to team up with Representative Malagari and his team to connect our neighbors with so many of the local resources available to help their families thrive,” Senator Collett said. “We’re always looking for new ways to engage and serve community members of all ages, and I’m grateful for the dozens of vendors and hundreds of attendees who braved the heat for a fun, worthwhile day at the park!”
During Family Fest, about 500 attendees explored a range of local vendors, including local fire companies, animal rescue shelters, nonprofit organizations, and state agencies. Children and families also enjoyed free balloon art, arts and crafts, refreshments, games, and more.
“Seeing so many people come together to spend time with one and another and just have some fun—that’s what community is all about,” said Representative Malagari. “And hopefully, everyone who attended took away something that improves their life just a little bit. Maybe they learned about some state resources that can help solve a problem for them or an organization that can provide needed support—or maybe they found a new volunteer opportunity or a local entertainment option they didn’t know about. Family Fest is about helping people of all ages connect with resources and with each other.”
This year’s event was generously supported by Souderton Connects, Independence Blue Cross, Clemens Food Group, North Penn Goodwill Services, Landis Market, The Hershey Company, GIANT Food Stores, and Wawa.
