  • Things To Do

The Perkiomen Valley is bustling with summertime fun. There is plenty to do in our own backyards! Check out some of the upcoming events in This Week Now: Perkiomen Valley for Aug. 5 to 11.

Skippack’s Timeout Sports Bar will feature the “Keep the Change” acoustic band from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. Enjoy a dozen different beers featured on Timeout’s tap system, or snack on a wide variety of appetizers, burgers, salads, flatbreads, or tacos on the assorted menu there. All ages may attend the event, though you must, of course, be 21 or over to drink.

The Farm, Home, and Youth Foundation of Montgomery County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will hold its Farm, Home, and Youth Fair from Aug. 8 to 10. Thursday, Aug. 8 will open from 4 to 9:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and each day is open to all ages. 4-H animal projects will be on display, alongside outdoor vendors and exhibits, indoor exhibits and artwork, flowers, photography, and crafts throughout the grounds. Cost is just $10 per car for all three days. The complex is located at 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville.

On Thursday, Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Travis Reiter Blood Drive will be held at the Lower Frederick Township Building, 53 Spring Mount Road, in Schwenksville. Reiter nearly lost his life on Dec. 15, 2022 when he was shot in the left chest while attempting to disarm an active shooter at his workplace. He required an alarming 23 bags of blood product, and without such donations his story could have ended very differently. The drive is hosted by the Miller-Keystone Blood Center.

The Liberty Comic Con is slated for Aug. 9 to 11 at the Oaks-based Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. The weekend will bring vendors, voice actors, comic book artists and writers together, as cosplayers roam the aisles. Fans of all ages are invited to attend. For tickets, visit https://www.libertycomiccon.com/pages/tickets.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, visitors are invited to attend the Augustus Quilters event. Hosted each first Wednesday and third Thursday, a social group of the Augustus Women of the ELCA Hearts and Hands Committee meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Augustus Lutheran Church, 717 W. Main St., in Trappe. All are welcome to join the group, which creates quilts to donate to the Lutheran World Relief organization.
