Olympian Ashley Sessa, the Schwenksville native and youngest team member who gave Team USA its only score in its 4-1 debut loss against Argentina, is ready to take her team against South Africa Saturday and get some wins on their 2024 Olympic record.
Sessa was one of three players to be chosen at age 16 to represent the U.S. Women's National Field Hockey Team.
Team USA Field Hockey stands 0-1-3 so far in the Olympics, as of Friday. Their second game against Spain ended in a draw, and Australia shut them out in their Wednesday match, 3-0. On Thursday, Great Britain handed them their third loss in a 5-2 win.
Sessa, 20, educated at Episcopal Academy, University of North Carolina, and Northwestern, holds two gold medals, a silver and a bronze across her field hockey journey. The golds were won in 2023 at the Junior Pan American Championship in Barbados, and at the 2021 indoor Pan American Cup in Spring City, where she was also awarded MVP.
