The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced last week that stormwater improvements are planned on several state highways in Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware counties, under a $14.9 million project to upgrade stormwater management facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
Thursday, August 8, through Friday, August 23: Trooper Road will be closed 24/7 between Township Line Road and Schultz Road in Worcester and East Norriton townships, Montgomery County. During the closure, motorists are directed to use Township Line Road, Route 363 (Valley Forge Road), and Woodlyn Avenue.
Local access will remain for closures. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.
Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
